Welcome to Phyzz’s Blog!

Phyzz Yoga is a Seattle-based mobile yoga studio that brings yoga and meditation classes to offices and unexpected spaces.

We help people energize their relationship to the way they make their living, and see the value of "yoga at work" (get it?).

Read this blog for various musings on yoga and other topics, or, check out our more schmancy, corporate page.

Oh! And we made the local news. Watch our TV Debut!

Who’s Behind Phyzz?

Over the last decade and a half, Karen has worked as a geologist, high school math teacher, dot-com startup geek, IT nerd, and marketing project manager. In 2008 she realized that teaching yoga required her full and undivided attention.

Based in Seattle, she teaches yoga in the home, at the workplace, and around the world. She has been teaching yoga since 2003, and practicing since 1998. She plans retreats to Northwest destinations, to Mexico, and India. Oh yeah, and she’s older than she looks.

Seeking Results

Many people who are considering taking up yoga have asked: “How often do I need to practice yoga to see results?” We decided to take this question to the streets. Well, to the streets of our clients’ brains, that is. After a bit of research, we have come upon the answer.  And that is…[drumroll please] [...]

Gettin’ in the Habit

A great man once said, I’m Gonna Make A Change, For Once In My Life It’s Gonna Feel Real Good, Gonna Make A Difference Gonna Make It Right . . . Whether it’s increasing your proclivity towards your meditation or yoga practice, eating healthier, getting more organized or cleaning up after yourself, even the most [...]

Epilogue: The One Where I’m Thankful

A big shout-out of LUUHHHHHV goes out to the beautiful yogis and yoginis that joined me for Phyzz 1: SVĀHĀ this past weekend. If you hadn’t read here, this past weekend we stole away to beautiful Friday Harbor on San Juan Island in Washington. After walking the block and a half up the hill from [...]

Miss Halloween already? (Re)Treat Yourself To Something Sa-weet!

We are all kinds of excited up in here. I stumbled upon this lovely bed and breakfast on a recent trip to Friday Harbor in the San Juan Islands, and I could not shake the notion that I wanted to hold a gathering of merry yoga-makers there. And I wanted to do it soon, like, as [...]

What do Yoga, Boxing, and a High Elevation Oolong have in common?

Those that know me know that many Really Good Things have come into my life recently. One of these things is having the opportunity to train with Carla Wilcox, former female pro boxer, and who has made a name for herself around town as Seattle’s Best Zen Boxing Instructor. You might be thinking, “Um, ahimsa, [...]

Phyzz’s TV Debut!

A local news channel here in Seattle is doing a story on Phyzz and they filmed me teaching yesterday! The class was one of my longest running corporate classes, and it’s to the kind folks over at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. I have been teaching the staff there in this very same conference [...]

Hump Day Stretch and Smoothie sesh! A little over 20 people showed up and I led them in a half-hour routine of grounding, stretching balancing, [...]

Hump Day Stretch and a Smoothie

Well y’all, it was bound to happen. Take the inspiration I draw from events like this one I did recently via locally-based indie-entrepreneur-focused networking site Biznik, sprinkle it with my love for and proximity of Healeo to my “office”, add a dash of locally-flavored support, and you get: I’ve decided to start a Wednesday morning [...]

New client spotlight: Intiman Theater

A little over a month ago, a little email from the Phyzz website came in. I spoke to a kind lady over at Intiman Theater, who wanted to organize a class for herself and her coworkers. We set a time and a date, and we are now 4 sessions or so deep into an ongoing [...]
